Early Cyber was an aesthetic movement that was most predominant from the mid-1980s to mid-1990s, with early examples present as early as the 1970s. This aesthetic consisted of harsh pixelated thermographic imagery with warped fonts made newly possible through the proliferation of the first wave of desktop publishing and image manipulation software, often with Cyberpunk themes. This aesthetic also featured early usage of CGI. It had overlap with the 90s Cool , Cyberdelia , Silicon Dreams , Factory Pomo , and Corporate Gen-X Cyber aesthetics.

By the late 1990s, this aesthetic had evolved into more polished/conventional aesthetics such as Y2K Futurism and Metalheart .
